Just making sure everyone knows putting extra people on your car insurance can make it a good bit lower.
A good few mates of mine and I have put our parents on even though we don't live with them any more, and the premium can drop by a good £60.
Give it a try!:T :T :T

Oh I thought that your premium usually goes up when you put more people on the policy"The time is always right to do what is right"0

My dad can't drive, my premium would double :rotfl:0 -
My premium went down with Direct Line when I put my wife on it:D I asked if I could put friends and neighbours on to reduce it further but unfortunately they said no:eek:To Dare is To Do:beer:0

would this affect all parties involved though is you had an accident?
would your dad have to declear an accident in the last 5 years eventhough even if he wasnt driving?0 -
I took my ex off my policy this year and the cost went up by £65 next year im putting my mum on it! that way if she ever wants to drive it she can and I can save the money!finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!0

When I enquired about insurance for my dad I was told that adding my mother to his policy would make it cheaper - by the insurance company.
Insurers depend on statistics to guide their pricing structure. Seems adding people in the safer categories (age, sex etc.) skews the results.
Must try the OP's idea next time mine is due.

As I understand it, if the policy holder had an accident, the Dad wouldn't have to declare it, as it didn't happen to the Dad, and also he wasn't the policy holder.
If the Dad did drive it, and did have an accident, then the policy holder would have to make a claim, and the Dad would have to decare it on his next renewal that he had an accident (on someone elses insurance).
Good point though, to think about adding a named driver, I shall try to remember this next time I look around for quotes.Indecision is the key to flexibility

As a rule, add a women to a car insurance policy, by adding my partner I reduced my quote from £1150 to £9600

i agree with the above - most companies have an insured and spouse discount for motor, so put your OH on it and your premium drops. If single there may be merit in inventing a sig other - they're never going to crash are they, therefore no claim, so it'll never come up (in theory!), so just take the lower premiums...if it's more than 10 stone, and that hairy, it's probably not a dog...it may be a wookie.0

I tried this for my 17 year old daughter. Adding me put the price up by £1. My only claim was well over 10 years ago and I wasn`t even the driver.0
