Hi there,
Im hoping someone can help me or point me in the right direction, earlier tonight my laptop lid suddenly slammed down and now it wont stay up at all unless i prop it up with something, im presuming ive broken the hinges, ive spent the last hour scouring ebay and google for hinges for my machine but ive not been able to find any.
My laptop is a Medion Akoya p6613.
Does anyone one know where i can find some as i cant stand the screen like this.
thanks

do you pick it up by holding the screen?
Are the hinges visibly snapped, or loose?!!

I have helped residential and small business computer users for over a decade now, and a popular problem for me is replacing laptop hinges.
The hinges themselves shouldn't cost more than £15-20. The real cost is in the installation, as it can take a very careful hour to replace them, as laptops are not designed to have hinges replaced very often.
Your cheapest option is search for them on the internet and get a careful friend to install them - you need to be VERY careful though!
Laptop hinges are often damaged by 'twisting' the laptop shut, i.e. from the side of the screen. The safest way is to close it by putting your hand on the top of the screen and closing that way.
Good luck!If someone is worth thanking - click on the 'Thanks' button on their response. It's just a nice thing to do :-)
