I'm sure I've read this somewhere before, but why would somebody buy a Next Gift Card Value £100 for £105 ?????? Is there some kind of scam?

I think its something to do with money laundering if I remember correctly?0

eBay issue codes for money off, making the voucher cheaper than the bid amount. I have four vouchers on my buying account, the biggest being 15% off any auction.
Alternatively some people like to use up their paypal money and turn it into vouchers.0 -
Or it's someone messing around with no intention of paying.
I once sold some M&S vouchers on Ebay and twice people bid them up to over the face value and then just didn't pay! :mad:Debt at 1/5/09 £21,996 _pale_
Current debt- 0 :j Final payment made October 2012.

Next don't like their gift cards being auctioned so it may be pulled
People also get carried away with bidding fever and forget the face value of the voucher0 -
As well as the voucher reasons which is the most common IMO. If people don't want their Paypal income to appear in their Bank account (there are many reasons from hiding money from a partner to laundering) they buy vouchers in its place.'The More I know about people the Better I like my Dog'

False benefit claims hiding income and profits from fencing, as well as money laundering.0

Ebay plus points means that on a sale of £105 - the buyer gets £2.10 back from ebay to spend. Add that to £3+ back from quidco and they are not paying over the top, and it saves them going to m&s for a gift voucher for family and friends.
That said - if the seller sends you nothing - ebay and paypal will not get involved - and your money is lost. But ebay make no attempt to warn buyers of this.0 -

When? There are thousands of such cases and ebay and paypal will not allow a claim, will not even contact the seller, and will not take action against the seller.
If you know a secret, share it - thousands of people are awaiting your help (unless, as i suspect, you are talking about an old claim before the rule came in).0
