recommend a digital camera with excellent shutter lag

hi,

I have a canon ixus 75 currently but the time it takes from pressing the button to taking the picture has become a problem especially when trying to take pictures of our children.
can anyone recommend a good digital camera that has excellent shutter lag?
are slr's a good option also?

I would say a DSLR would be a good option.

You can reduce shutter lag if you pre focus normally depressing the shutter half way. But I have a dslr and compact, I find the dslr much better for taking pictures of children.

Shutter lag has been pretty noticeable on every compact digital camera I've used (though I'm sure some are better than others). I agree with ukcarper - a DSLR will solve your problems - and give you better pictures, too.
