Put it in perspective, you got a good job done for £20. Your friend was luckier. Stop complaining and get a life

He has just phoned me back.

My PC is older and took about 8 hours to sort out.

Said he was there 4 hours because he was talking with my friends father the job only took short of 2 hours?

    Well thats it.

Appears they charge a standard rate.

So you were both charged £20, but you're unhappy because yours took longer? I think that's a very good price for someone to get your PC up & running again. If you still feel you were robbed, I'm sure he'll happily give you back your £20 and put your PC back to the messed up state it was in before you took it to him.

    thanks for all your help

It has to be a wind up that you think you were overcharged getting your PC fixed for £20. Unbelievable! If true then this is yet another reason why I want out of IT.
  • Sorry I was only asking for help and I am not trying to upset people.

    This is not a wind-up.

I honestly felt that I was being overcharged.

Count yourself lucky. I got my PC repaired after a particularly nasty virus last week and it cost me £40. Everyone said that was a fair price to pay and I was happy to have my pc back and working perfectly again.

It seems you are upset because the Pc repair guy had to do more work and also a call out for your friend but still charged them the same tiny fee that you were charged. Jealousy, pure and simple. £20 for a Pc repair is buttons my friend and dont ever forget that.

£40 is nearly a standard rate for most things. You got a fair deal there. Possibly the other person chanced his arm and got the price down as well?
