Palm Tungsten T malfunction

Options
I know that this is out of the ark but I was attached to it and it has decided to fail on me; possibly my fault! The PDA locked, I did a soft reset but this did not work and so I resorted to a hard reset. The PDA is now stuck with the digitizer on the screen and will not move. I am currently trying to run the battery down in the hope that I can then recharge and this might remedy my fault.

Has anyone any other useful suggestions as to how I can get this up and running again.

Fortunately it is backed up on my PC so I can access my records but it is not very satisfactory not being able to use the handheld.

Any reasonable suggestions will be tried.

PLEASE HELP.

Thanks.

I had a T3 that suffered very badly from touchscreen drift - so much so that on several occasions I could not get to the parts of the screen to access the menu to recalibrate the screen...

IIRC, the drift seemed to depend on the state of the battery - so that it would work OK when fully charged but would become unusable when part-discharged.

If the battery on yours is near end of life, it's possible the screen calibration no longer works. May be worth changing the battery - though if it's similar to the T3 it's not a nice job.

Alternative is to buy a working one off eBay - working T's should be less than a tenner these days.

Great piece of hardware, built to last! I think I had this digitiser problem on one of my Palms, nothing worked apart from a complete drain of the battery (since it can't be disconnected) and you need to give it a REALLY good charge before switching it on again. When you do, be very careful on the digitiser calibration bit.

Ive had this with two old palm devices. The pointer needs recalibrating. But in my case it wouldnt recalibrate even after re-charging or replacing the battery. If you do manage to recalibrate there is an app you can get that will restore the calibration when you switch it on - I think its called DigiFix.
