HPI Information wrong
Options
I bought a car in December 2009 from a car dealer. The car has been fine but I have now decided to sell it. I took it to a dealer who told me that the HPI check stated the car as stolen in March 2005.
I went to the police who searched their database and said that the car is not listed as stolen. The registration document and licence plate all match, and the number on the car chassis matches so it is a legitimate car.
However, with this HPI check saying it is stolen I can't sell it. Can anyone advise me what to do? (The police just said I should contact HPI, but they haven't replied.)

ring hpi up and tell them straight you are not happy
make sure you put down the time of the call and the person whom you speak to
give them full details of officer you spoke to and rank and serial number etc and tell them they need to remove this information
it was probably added when the car was owned by a company so its employee couldnt sell it to a bona fida trader and usually says alert on the hpi document rather than stolen0 -
It might just be logged as stolen recovered?0
