Hi.
I wonder if anybody can answer my question.
I have ordered a new laptop and intend to wipe the hard drive and install Ubuntu before activating the windows license. If I do this, am I able to install the copy of Windows on another pc?
Anybody know?

It will almost certainly come with an OEM licence, legally this type of licence is not tranferable between computers.
in reality you can activate the oem key 3 or 4 times on different machines before it locks.0 -
I managed to re-use win xp on another pc where the other packed up.
It took hours as I had to download/install all the latest sp/updates.0 -

No. It is an OEM version licenced to that manufacturer. You will find that it states the manufacturers name on the licence sticker.
You can however return it to the retailer for a refund of the Windows licence if you do not use it and boot the machine from the Ubuntu CD.0 -

Why dont you just partional(split up) the drive and install ubuntu on that? what i have done and have always done with Distos of lunix such as for example Centos 5.5 with windows 2003 on the other space on my server or fedora. That case if your machine goes wrong and devolops any faults you can simply reset back as one disk and restore."MSE Money saving challenges..8/12/13 3,500 saved so far :j" p.s if i been helpfully please leave me a thank you but seek official advice at all times from a pro0
