Hi,

I suffer from autism and have a medical assessment coming up. I understand that it is better to have somebody accompany you, but I don't have anybody. Would anybody be willing to do so, it's an afternoon...I can compensate you

Please let me know.. PMs welcome..

Thanks

Sweetheart, someone will no doubt come along and say you shouldn't offer jobs on the forum. So before it gets moved or deleted PLEASE get in touch with NAS head office, or local branch to see what they suggest.
PS my son is also Autistic and we're dreading ATOS "invitation"!

Perhaps write to the DWP/ATOS and ask them if they can record the medical for you, that way even if you dont have someone with you, you can have a copy of what was said.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

The problem is not with offering someone a 'job', it is the idea of sharing personal information with a complete stranger. Very very dangerous.

OP, if you do get any PM's, please do not follow them up, follow eve13's advice and seek professional assistance.

Yes, letting random strangers have access to your medical information/life story can be dangerous - thats kindof just one of the reasons I was rather annoyed when the tribunal service sent my entire set of papers to a random stranger by mistake!

Having somebody here offer is good enough for me. To keep my options open.

I will try other places too but I have nothing at the moment.

Seriously nabitus, taking a stranger with you is not an option you should even consider. This person will know your name, address, date of birth, and all of your vulnerabilities. Whilst there are no doubt very trustworthy people who may offer to help, there are also those who will take advantage of this, and there is no way for you to find out which category someone falls into until it is too late.

It's not my life story and I'm not giving the person any papers or my house keys.

Autism is my most embarrassing thing, and I have no qualms about sharing the fact with somebody for this. It's very important to me.

If anybody sympathises my plight, agrees, and can do it, driving up sitting with me for it and going home, please PM me.

You are telling someone enough to use your personal details against you, and if they wanted to, to find you at home. If someone wants to get to you, they don't need your keys.

At the same time Nabitus, you must be aware that anyone reading this won't know YOU either, so don't be upset if you don't get many responses. However kind they are, most people will probably be wary of the safety implications of meeting a complete stranger off the internet.

Eve13's advice is really good, I'm sure an organisation like that would be able to help you :)

I'm not giving the person all my details on a piece of paper.

And my issues are pretty much like any other autistic person struggling with daily living. A stranger is much better than nothing. And at the moment I have nothing.

If I manage to get somebody from NAS to work something out then i'll go with that. But I appreciate anybody offering here.
