ATOS ASSESMENT Confused HElP!! update

Options
I recently completed an ESA50 which I sent back a few weeks ago. I received a letter begining of this week to say that I would have to attend a Medical on the 13th June.
Iv'e been very distressed because of this.

Strangely I have received a letter today to say that my medical has been cancelled and file returned back to the DWP.

Could any of you helpful people on here advise me of what this means. Does this mean my benefit will stop or did I complete the ESA50 incorrectly.

I've been in the support group for the past year after winning my appeal at tribunal. This whole re-assesment thing has already started to impact my health.

They cant (or should not) stop you esa without a medical.

Its possible that they have decided you are eligible for one of the esa groups (support or work group) simply by the evidence on your form/from your gp etc.

In that case ATOS can make a recommendation to the DWP that no medical is needed and that you should be granted esa.

I would just ring them up and ask what is going on, like I say, its quite probably a good sign.

The impact of this is to stigmatise people on benefits,
and we should be deeply worried about that

Thanks ci_k what the strange thing is that with the questionnaire the only thing i sent was copies of discharge forms for overdose admissions. They have not contacted my GP and also I have changed my GP which I advised DWP of.

Looking at the timescale between sending the ESA50 and receiving the appointment it seems highly unlikely they would have been able to get such anything from the GP.

Its Typical of ATOS isnt it to get people all worked up to then after a few days cancel it. Guess their probably to busy failing people

There are various steps that the DWP takes and many different routes to getting ESA.

It's possible, for example, that on reviewing your paperwork, ATOS have decided that you qualify, and are not needed to be called for an interview.
This is how it's supposed to work - though it's not supposed to get to the point of actually scheduling a medical.

It's also possible that the reconsideration happened at the DWPs end, and similarly, you've been awarded ESA.

I can't think off-hand of any circumstances in the regulations, where the DWP can cancel your medical, and not award you ESA.
Phone them (ESA) monday and ask about the status of your case.

The ESA medical appointment letters are generated automatically by a computer system, which explains the first letter.

Given that you were in the Support Group, I would suspect that you have been found eligible again, and that is why the medical has now been cancelled, and the file returned to the DWP.

    Hi Cpt.Scarlet

Im just so worried maybe it is because it is just to hard to believe that ATOS (THE MOST VILE THING EVER TO BE USED BY THE UK GOVERNMENT) has just let me off the hook that easily. It seems to good to be true there must be a catch somewhere as they have not approached my GP for any input.
Im just worried that they may have put me in to the WRAG group without getting or looking at any evidence we have to provide. :(_pale_
