Tax credit 65+ sickness

My mum (67, widow) has had to give up work for while due to ill health, so going to get a double hit of losing wages + tax credit. I assume as she is 65+ she cannot claim sickness to get the 28 week extension? She has already been working while disabled, so gets DLA to help her out a bit.
Does anyone know how she can keep the claim going a bit longer until she can recover and get another part-time job?
thanks...

As you state until she gets another job does this mean she has actually left this employment.
If she has left she wouldn't be able to claim tax credits anyway.
There are a number of benefits for the over 60's including Pension Credit to top up her SRP and depending on what rate of DLA she is this may be topped up with certain premiums.
There is also HB/CTB and SMI which is help with mortgage payments.Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.0
