The Shawshank Redemption DVD for under £3

12 December 2006

What's the deal?

Woolworths is offering the film 'The Shawshank Redemption' on DVD for the bargain price of £2.97. What's more, this version is a limited edition and delivery's free. It is a 15 certificate, so not one for the kiddies.

What's this film about?

Released in September 2003, starring Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins, it was nominated for seven Academy Awards including best picture.

A brief synopsis:

'Wrongly accused city banker Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins) arrives at Shawshank Prison in 1947 after receiving a double life sentence for the brutal murders of his wife and her lover.
He discovers that when they send you to Shawshank for life...that's exactly what they take.
His quiet strength slowly earns him the respect and friendship of the prison fixer Red (Morgan Freeman). He also becomes popular with the warden and prison guards, as he is able to use his banking experience to help the corrupt officials amass fortunes.
But Andy's seemingly stoic acceptance of his unjust imprisonment hides a fierce determination for freedom and provides a unique chance to change his fate.
This beautifully crafted movie features powerful performances from the entire cast and ultimately provides an uplifting message about the power of the human spirit and the value of hope.'

How do I get my DVD?

Saw it on a display stand in my local Tesco tonight at under £3 too.
  • I ordered this from Woolworths on 04/12/06 it said it was in stock and would be delivered on 06/12/06. It's now 12/12/06 and I am still waiting. The order is now saying it's on backorder but it wasn't when I ordered it. I was looking forward to watching this again as it's a great film, but now I think I am sorry I bothered.
