hi i have just bought a Kenwood kdc-4547u stereo, i have it all in place fine and all was ok till i switched ignition off and then returned to car 10 minutes later to find it had lost its preset stations and had returned to the default demo mode, I’m no expert but I’m sure I remember something a while back about swapping the red and yellow wire around on connector or am I just imagining this. If this is so does anyone have a guide for doing this or if there is something else I need to do then I would be most great full for some help. my car is Citroen xsara Picasso 2002 hdi .

  • change the yellow and red wires around on the back of the stereo, there should be some detail in the handbook for the stereo about this. there should be spade connectors connecting them together, you should disconect the battery beofre unplugging and plugging them back in to protect the stereo from popping a fuse.

i suggest you read owners manual just in case you cause problems by changing over the red and yellow

original kenwood leads look like this in the photo, the red and yellow have connectors to swap around this is designed to eliminate the need for an extra iso harness that has the swapped wires.

your citroen dash display wont operate the stations names appart from date time mpg etc. and they dont make a cable that can comunicate with it either. bud do a cable to operate the stalk control behind the stearing wheel if you have that but i found them pointless to have, as only certain buttons will operate next track and volume all others will be dormant.

I don't think swapping the two as suggested is enough to get the new head unit working.

I have a berlingo and had the same problem. The head unit needs a live feed to retain the preset stations and a switched live which shut the unit off with the ignition.

You are currently using the eco mode live. It's a citroen battery saver. This is sort of a switched live, except the ecu shuts it down about 1 minute after you close the doors. This is why you are losing the channels.

If you just swap the two around, you will find the stereo comes on when you unlock the car!

On the ISO connection from the car, I swapped the number 4 with the number 6 and plugged it into the head unit ISO connector. No 6 is a true switched live feed on your car, that otherwise becomes redundant with one of the adaptors. Number 4 is of no use at all, you need to use number 6 and then it will operate how it should and also swap the yellow and red as mentioned earlier.
