Allen sockets are not the most popular of tools, so I think you've done well to find what you need, never mind the price.
An individual socket from a specialist supplier such as Snap-on will be £10 or more, so the B&Q set may be your best buy.0 -
halfords will sell an individual socket not cheap though without a trade card0

Nice set from Snap-on for £215.
A bargain, actually, because I think you can pull the hex/allen bit out of each socket and use the socket as a hex driver.

angle grind or hacksaw the end off an 8mm allen key and use an 8mm socket.
Halfords sell the thing you asked for but may only do a 3/8 drive in that size (8mm) off the shelf and probably about [strike]£3.50ea[/strike] .... ooops who am I kidding, this is Halfords afterall £4.50 3/8 drive, £7.50 1/2 drive

Why do you want a 1/2 drive?
Another alternative, just use the complete 8mm allen key with a tube extension to give greater force.0 -
I agree with never and Wig 'n weald......buy the required allen key......find a socket that it fits, then cut off the required length of allen key....insert, etc.
maybe a drop of loctite stops it tumbling out into the toolbox bottom?
Halfrauds sell allen sockets....but they only sell the short versions.
Trying to get an allen socket with a long shaft length can be expensive...so I've usually resorted to the above.
[needed for removing allen bolts holding driveshafts to flanges.....short allen shaft length fouls the boot, etc.]No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0
