Strange sign when we open up microsoft office word

Yesterday as soon as we open up word there is a sign already on the page looks a bit like an upside down U with a black circle to the left, its only the size of the print. It won`t delete, if we space down we get a long line of them.
I have done a system restore back to beginning of the month and its still there. Please does anyone have any ideas (its on a laptop)

It's just the Paragraph mark, it shows you the end of the paragraph as a visual marker. To toggle between showing and hiding just hold CTRL + Shift then press 80
