would silk emulsion be ok for doors and skirting

Would silk emulsion be ok to use on doors and skirting if undercoat has been applied first are would it not look right.

It will scrape off.....best to use oil based (anything you will need to clean brush in turps)

Ok thanks, my mums partner is doing a bit of decorating for me and i asked him to get me satin for woodwork but he has got me silk emulsion i dont like telling him but like you say it will chip and scrape.0

you can get satin gloss and ordinary gloss0

If you specified satin finish for the woodwork and he's gone and bought silk emulsion then I'd keep a very close eye on his work. Why would you worry about telling him he's got the wrong stuff anyway?

Thanks for your reply,s i have just rang him and hes going to change it to satin, he is a good decorator i just think that he is set in his old ways and he thought i meant i wanted emulsion because when i said satin he said it will scratch off but didnt know exactly what i was on about lol.0
