Hi
Ive never written on here before, so here goes!
I am writing to warn anyone, that if you order from the adams website and then decide you don't want the goods once they arrive, for whatever reason, that YOU are responsible to pay for the postage to send it back.
Is that normal? I thought a big company like that would have a free returns policy???
I ordered a few things from them, on there internet site, and entered my nectar card details,. thinking the total would be deducted from my nectar card. - (I now know that if you want to do that you have to do it through the nectar website)
Once i had realised (the above), i thought i would just send the order back. I followed the returns instructions, and when the lady at the post office told me it was going to cost me £4.95 i thought I shouldn't have to pay that!
So I sent an email,
MY 1st EMAIL TO ADAMS
Hi I purchased some goods from the adams website, at the end of the order in the special instructions section i requested that you take payment from my nectar card.
But I was sent the order, and the full amount of the purchase was taken from my credit card instead of my nectar card.
I thought you could just take the payment off my nectar card, especially as their is a section on the adams website where you have to enter your nectar card number
I have followed the returns instructions, but when i went to the post office to post it back, they said it would cost £4.95 for standard delivery. So I have kept hold of the parcel for now as I feel it is unfair that i should have to pay it.
Please could you either;
take payment from my nectar card (xxxxxxxxxxxx)
or arrange a pick up of my parcel with a full refund
Please can you also email me to let me know
many thanks

MY 2nd EMAIL TO ADAMS
To Denise Pittam
Please can you advise me on what to do. I am a single mum with 2 young kids and i am doing christmas on a real tight budget, and really need to try to get my money back.
I would never have been able to afford to buy the products, i only intended to use the points from my nectar card to pay for it - now I am really strugling.
I have had trouble contacting anyone through the adams site, when i submitted my question it never worked, (maybe because i am using a mac?) and i haven't been able to call because i have just started a new job working 9 - 5 mon - fri.

Thank you for your e-mail.
We are unable to accept payment for orders with nectar cards and
payment would be with either the debit / credit card used at the time.
You can return any items to us for a refund within 28 days. The postage
costs are the customers responsibility.
Our help section has all the frequently asked questions regarding
payment and delivery etc.

Sorry but they've done nothing wrong with their policy. In fact they are giving you a return period of 3 weeks more than the law states (7 days).
I'm sure if the items were faulty then they would refund postage but if you change your mind or order by mistake (as you thought with Nectar) then you stand the charge to return.0 -
Are you able to return them to an adams store?0
-
Do I have to pay to return the item?
If you are returning an item which is faulty, we will refund you the delivery cost of returning it. Please let us know the delivery cost when you return the goods. If you are returning an item for a refund or exchange, then the cost of returning the item is your responsibility.
Taken from Adams website - also, without sounding like a meanie, why would you input your creditcard details if you didn't expect payment to be taken off it?
