Incapacity Benefit/Return to work

I am on Incapacity benefit been unable to work for several years as have been extremely unwell with the bi-p.

i soo want to return to work and have been doing vol work (I have informed the relevent benefit people) and they (the vol work) are aware of the bi-p. I have also been excellently supported by Mind who have helped me require work related skills and this is ongoing.

Now, the vol work people are are suggesting I could work for them properly (ie paid) over 16 hrs. (I would probably be very little better off, but i would be in work:beer:)
This would be a dream for me. Now for the question....benefit wise (I have tried looking on the website and called but they are not there until tues) they talk of a back to work grant? is this a one off payment of £100? and is there any safety net involved as I would be terrified it all goes wrong. It says something about a 26 week period?

If you could clarify any of this I would much appreciate it!

Regards,
Jan

PS I have tried PM 'DMG24' as you seem extremly knowledgable in this sort of thing, but your box is full so any input would be much appreciated. Thanks:)

    PS,

Would this be better on the benefit board or here? I was thinking better here, but please move as appropriate.

The Job Grant is either £100 or £250, depending on whether you have children or not. More information here.

You may also qualify for Return to Work Credit if you are earning less than £15,000.

Depending on your household income, you may also qualify for WTC, CTB and LHA/ HB. As you have been on IB for some time you will only need to be working 16 hours to qualify for WTC.
    Gone ... or have I?

Also, (sorry for all the questions...)

Is there any insentive for a company to take on a new employer who has been on long term incapacity to take them on. im sure i read it some where ?a financial insentive? Im not sure what it was and it may have finished now.

I know I can call on Tuesday and find outb the answers before any one points that out but as it is a long weekend and all this is going round my mind and im just trying to sort it all out (in my mind) as i want this opportunity to happen and go as smoothly as possible.

And of course a company may feel there is a risk taking someone on who has been on long term IC benefit whoever true that is or not for each individual.

If you mean the linking rules, maybe someone here can help, because it's my understanding from what I've read elsewhere that now that IB no longer exists, if you're on IB, the linking rules no longer apply and you'd have to start from scratch with a claim for ESA at assessment rate if it didn't work out.

I looked this up because I was feeling quite a bit better and was thinking of work. Unfortunately, the depression didn't just lift, I went manic, so it'll be longer before I consider work, but it always encourages me when I come across someone else with bipolar getting back into work. All the best.

Yes you can get wftc for children until 20th birthday if they are in full time education and you do around 16+ hours a week. Mine recently stopped as eldest is now 20

    Good luck with your job
