I thought about that, there is a popular charity called locks of love. but i also heard that they (or other hair charities maybe) throw away a lot of hair as it often cant be used for their purposes. if you do want to donate, one option is to sell your hair and donate the cash

I don't know who it was for. They took it along and then went back and she saw the final wig made from it.

If this is of any help it is taken from the Cancer Research Website:

    Donating your hair

Your hair needs to be at least 6 inches long for it to be of any use in making a wig. It must be clean and in a pony tail when it is cut. If you are still interested, contact Banbury Postiche on 01295 757400 or visit their website at https://www.purelywigs.co.uk. They will explain to you about having your hair cut and will pay you for it. The fees are £3 per ounce if your hair is 10 - 12" long and £5 per ounce if it is more than 12" long. They have asked us to point out though, that no one is going to get rich by selling their hair!

Little Princess Trust are also able to accept hair donations from anyone wishing their hair to be used to help children suffering hair loss due to cancer treatment and other causes. Your should have at least 10 -12" of clean, good condition hair. For more information call 0845 094 4509 or visit https://www.littleprincesses.org.uk

    Hair merchants

Banbury Postiche is the only company that we know of that buys hair from individual people. There are hair merchants, but they advise us that they buy in bulk from abroad and cannot buy from individual people. If your company offers this service, let us know. We can add your details to this page.

I wish I had longer hair - I would happily donate to the Little Princess Trust x
Might have a look later and see if there is anything else I can do anyway :)

How do the economics of this work? There must be an inexhaustible supply of even good quality hair around the world. Surely in this case logic would dictate that prices must be low?

There was a young girl on GMTV yesterday, who was having hers cut off to donate it to the childrens wig charity.

They said that the hair they cut off her would enable them to make 3 wigs for children that needed it.

I thought it was a lovely gesture from someone so young, I didn't manage to get the full story behind it though as it was on the TV in work
