    The only server 2008 which is downloadable is the valuation version and does not allow you to fully upgrade to the full version from demo plus it is over 2 Gig for server 2008 windows operating system.So it would take some considerable time to do so. Plus have been reading up on Microsoft does not allow boot up server O/S by them via usb.

    The other reason is that the server has lunix only installed by command line. (no windows style of a desktop no click and paste ect, you have to use commands ect for example root/etc/dir (to show directorys)

    I have read about others installing Windows Server 2008 via USB.

    In fact you can use the Windows USB Tool to do so(with just a little modification if necessary).

    Again, I have never worked with a Server so correct me if I am wrong.

    This looks like a simple solution. Though are many other ways to crack the nut. So don't give up if this particular way doesn't work for you.

    I suggest this because you won't have to wait until you get a drive before you can get 2k8 installed. I think you can do it. ;)

    Tried it did not work with server 2008 o/s but thanks again just ordered a new DVDrw drive will wait that comes after the bank holiday

    What didn't work? Which options did you attempt?

    If you give up so easily you won't get far. ;)

    You don't even need the tool. I thought the link would give you enough pointers.

    Just Google it. It's relatively simple. Such as here

    Once you master this, you can carry all kinds of useful tools with you on a USB drive.

    I tried 2008 R2 with the Nas drive and had some issues, I know the fault now the seagate drive was too slow at sending data so i need to re-format that drive again so what i am doing is downloading standard 2008 to my hard drive sata enclosure and hopefully install it on the drive it downloads to then also then attach it to the server as a sata drive and boot up to the other drives on my other server, Sometime later on today after i get the keyboard issues sorted out
