Is there a wireless internet receiver to RJ45 cable connection box?

Options
Hi, I have a wireless Virgin Media hub in my office/study, I want to connect some other devices at the other end of the house to the Internet, its quite far away and I don't particularly want to drill holes in walls or take up carpets and flooring to run a network cable to the other location.

All three devices have RJ45 Internet cable connections on them and are in close proximity to each other.
Is there some sort of mains powered wireless receiver/transmitter box with maybe 3 or 4 RJ45 Internet plug sockets outputs to connect via short RJ45 Internet cables to the other devices and talk back to the main Virgin hub.
To me (and I have very little computer knowledge) it seems similar to but the opposite of what a router would do.

I know its possible to get a plug in wireless usb dongle to connect up computers without wireless built in but with a usb connection, does anyone make a mains powered box that can do the same job but with RJ45 cable connection outlets?

If there is what im after out there, what would it be called.

What you're after is probably an ethernet wireless bridge, they're widely available from several manufactures such as Belkin, Cisco, etc... My recommendation would probably be the Linksys Wireless-N EN Bridge with Dual-Band WET610N Bridge .... It's easy to use, it's good looking... and it does the job you ask of!

ok why don't you run one cable from your wireless router to somwhere close to where the other 3 computers are install a switch and from the switch 3 cables to eachother computer this giving you good network transfer speeds over wireless and more secure also ??

Alternatively, a homeplug/powerline adapter like this at the PC end and a homeplug/powerline 3 or 4-port network adapter like this at the other. They come in two speed flavours - 85Mbps or 200Mbps if you plan to stream video or need very high speeds. They carry the data over your mains wiring.

the only problem with the homeplug powerline adaptors is that "if" that if your computers are in parts of the house ie one in kitchen and one in upstairs bedroom if the two parts of the house run on different electric circuits then they wont be able to see each other if you get what i mean

If they are different phases (uncommon), there would be a problem, but I run powerline adapters between two floors of my house which are on different rings and it isn't a problem.

Sitecom WL-330 will do what you want in conjunction with a cheap switch (it's not just a range extender).

i would get a quality SDS hammer drill, a decent club hammer, a pickaxe, a set of solid crow bars, and bite the bullet, and install ethernet.
  • I would very much appreciate if someone could help me with my situation. At my office I have Internet connection from three RJ-45 wall sockets. So, I just stick one end of the ethernet ca ble to the wall, the other to my PC.

Now, I have a Linksys WAG325N ADSL2+ Router and a Linksys WPSM54G print server. Is there any way to make my cable internet wireless so I could hook up 3 computers and a printer?

Just buy a better router than supplied with ethernet output. Known as Cable routers as used on ADSL FTTC (Infinity.)

Can still use ethernet which is better but choose an N series wireless for the printer. USB dongles are available to go in printer.
