If a circus is handing out free tickets for a show to local buisnesses in exchange for displaying their advertising posters logic would tell you they would only hand out one ticket per seat!!!!
People were being seated on plastic garden chairs in front of the two main fire escape!!! Some poor familys were seated in places where they would clearly not be able to see a thing, and I saw young children sitting on parents shoulders to ensure they could at least see the heads of preformers.
Throughout the show people were leaving in droves thanks to the cramped conditions, the preformance begining 40 minutes late, the overall poor quality of the show (the first and last act really carried this show!!!) and the fact that the temperture in the tent was soaring.
During the interval the lady sitting in front of us overhead one of the staff saying they had had to turn away several hundred people and some of them who had already purchased their tickets in advance were kicking off that their seats had been taken already.
I've been to 4-5 different circus companys shows and this was by far the worst I have ever seen. I would strongly advise people who want to go to either arrive a least an hour before the show at a minimum or save their money for something else.
I think the thing that upset me most was seeing all the disapointed children trudging out at the end.

So they were free then?one of the famous 50 -
Yeah the majority of the people there were using their free tickets they recieved for displaying the posters. But a few people had paid full price for their tickets as well which was about £15.
I thought I would put this up because not all the free tickets given out were for the same date so this could actually happen a few more nights as they are at southsea till the 5th of JuneHappily married mama of 50 -
People still go to a travelling circus?
Something wrong with the inhabitants of southsea. Round my way they would have got a 5% turnout compared to tickets issued. I think southsea took them by surprise0 -
Thanks for posting, OP. Sounds like they had lots of unsold tickets, so were giving them out for free. Feel sorry for the people who had paid though.0

I suspect they did give out more tickets than seats, it is quite common as most free tickets won't be redeemed (much like any newspaper 'free offer' or similar - they know most people won't get round to it), they got free promotion for the show, and got people being turned away thinking "wow, what a popular show, we must race for tickets next year!"0
