I sent something to Chester BDC yesterday 1st class as wanted to make sure they got it but looking at the royal mail website they did not get it today so what will happen to it if royal mail goes to post there post to them tomorrow and there is no one there?

Will royal mail leave them a card or what?

Just worried they wont get it.

Royal mail works wierdly - they seem to get it - but some tracking doesn't work properly.

Also - if it's posted first class, it's deemed to have arrived on the 'normal' day it would have arrived, as I understand it.

The DWP also lose stuff.
At best, they 'know' they've got stuff after 5 days, though it can be significantly longer than this.
They've lost at least one special delivery letter from me - though they at least have a record that they got it.
I've taken to sending everything special delivery, and taking pictures of every document I send, the envelope, and the special delivery form, as it's posted.

for a large organisation it will simply be retained until they are open for deliveries
