Hotel in Leeds with parking.

my daughter and I are currently trawling round universities to see where she fancies next year. We are going to Nottingham on the Friday ( which offers parking for the open day) and then Leeds on the Saturday ( which does not) My original plan was to drive to Nott Fri morning then on Friday evening drive to Leeds and stay in a hotel where I could then leave the car all Saturday while we looked at the University ( free buses laid on from the train station) then drive home Saturday night. I'm currently struggling though as there don't seem to be many hotels in Leeds where I could leave the car.
Alternatively I could probably go to a B and B just outside Leeds if it was an easy train journey into Leeds. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions?

Headingley Lodge at Headingley stadium is one option - plenty of parking and 5-10 minutes walk from Burley Park railway station - one stop from Leeds, about £2 return.

It will also give you the chance to look around Headingley which is the main student area.

Money saving option using local knowledge.
Drive HOME From Nottingham and sleep in your own bed
set sat nav to Station Lane Woodlesford Leeds West Yorkshire LS26 8RA
Nice quiet safe well to do area of Leeds
Free parking at train station or plenty of free on street parking nearby, its only 1 mile from both the M62 And M1 junctions.
Get the train in to Leeds, takes 8 minutes, other only 1 line so no options, other than wrong way or right way, use the free Bus from train station to uni , catch the train back to Woodlesford, set sat nav for home, back on the motorway in minutes and away.
Job done, no walking involved, no driving through Leeds which trust me is a complete and utter nightmare.
They are slightly nearer train stations, but they will rob your car.

The local B+B's are generally full of Homeless drug users

Thanks for the info. I had thought it might be slightly moneysaving, and less tiring, to not have to drive to Nottingham and back to Liverpool and then Leeds and back, but I suppose it would still be cheaper than staying somewhere.

And thanks for the Headingley link. If it's near to the University then I wouldn't have to get the train into Leeds, I could just get straight to the uni from there. I'll make enquiries about that one. Ae there any places to eat etc around there, do you know?

There is a couple of travelodges in leeds city centre but then you are struggling with parking,

which university is it - Leeds University, Leeds Metropolitan University

Headingly/Hyde Park is the student hub living area etc hotels near here there are a few - The Village and Weetwood Hall both on a bus route and car parking in the hotel - bus to train station is £3.40 return and you need to get the number 1 or 95! It will pass the university but you might want to go to the train station anyway to be with others doing the same thing.

a couple more miles north of headingley on past the Boddington Halls of Residence there is the Ramada Jarvis and Britannia Leeds/Bradford again carparking - the bus from here is the X84 again £3.40 return doesnt stop near train station but you get off at St Johns Centre and a walk straight down will bring you to it 5 mins and you also get to see part of the main shopping area! (alternatively when you get of the bus there is a city bus for 50p each to the train station takes about 20mins and gets busy)

All these buses will take you thru the main strip of headingley as well sit upstairs for best view!

near the train station there is Hilton (car Park) Queens, Novotel etc 1 mile down is holiday inn, premier Inn and Holiday Inn express the last two are on Kirkstall road.

Another option is the Butlers Hotel a short walk into headingley (56 bus) Ascot Grange Hotel (no.1 bus route etc)

hope this helps if you want anymore info let me know

There is a Premier Inn close to Leeds City centre with parking we stayed there a couple of weeks ago for £29 and we left the car there on the Saturday whilst we took the bus (£1 each way for me FOC for DH) into the city centre for shopping.

Thankyou. I was looking at the village on lastminute.com. Good to know you can get the bus from there. It's Leeds University she's looking at. I'll look at that one again, and have a look at Weetwood Hall.

Plenty of eateries in Headingley. Salvos Italian (v good), Thai, Indian, fish and chips, pub grub.

BTW Weetwood Hall isn't very moneysaving! You can walk to the Uni from Leeds centre - it takes about 15 minutes from the station and you'll see plenty of the city centre.

Thankyou for that. Unfortunately that one only had rooms at £56 but I've booked another one for £29.

    Leeds City West
    City West One Office Park
    Gelderd Road
    Leeds

It says it's convenient for the station and 1.5 miles to the City centre so that seems walkable to me if there's no bus that goes in that direction.
Thanks everyone for all your help. I had looked at Headingley Lodge before that but unfortunately they only had a double for that night so v pleased with my travel inn special offer.

Thanks, but for £29 even if I have to get a taxi to the centre it will do. It really is only somewhere to have our tea and sleep after a day wandering round Nottingham, and before a day wandering round Leeds.
