LV Car insurance advice please?

Hi,

I have very limited knowledge of how car insurance works and have had my first prang today.

I bumped into the driver in front after he did an emergency stop after a car pulled out of a blind side road.

I understand that i caused that damage to his car.

But need some advise. LV car insurance said that because they class me as liable that I would have to pay the bill for the damage on his car and LV will cover the damage to my car.

Is that correct, that i should have to pay for his damage, is that not what my insurance is for? (i am fully comp)

Sorry if this is stupid is just i haven't ever hit anyone before

Thanks

if it was your fault then your insurance will pay for the damage to the third party

if you have fully comp insurance then they will also pay for the damage to your car although you will have to pay whatever excess your policy has.

I think you have misunderstood or they did not explain it well. If you have comp cover and are liable, LV will pay for the damage to your car and the third parties.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
