Our Sky box for multi room has just failed, Sky want £65.00 to come and fix it.
If I cancel the multiroom subscription and buy a secondhand box for £10.00 will the box work without the subscription or do I need to pay Sky for the subscription for it to work?

Any box you get you will have to notify sky so they can pair your subscription card with the box so you can get all the channels you pay for

I do not think there is a charge for this.

So you are best keeping multiroom then get another box and have it paired with your card.

That will work out cheaper than paying the repair fee.

Or you could ask to be put though to cancellations/retentions and ask them to cancel all, the reason being if you are a long standing customer and a good payer they will send an engineer out for free and replace your box with a refurbished one.

You will need balls for that route though, but it does work as for the sake of £65 would rather keep your business.

I called Sky and told them I was cancelling the contract and they are coming tomorrow to fix it.
