fitting a shower

Hi all
How easy is it to fit a shower? We just need to take our (broken) one off the wall and put a new one in its place. But do we need a plumber for this?

Unless it's a direct replacement with one of exactly the same make and type it could be very awkward because the connections are very seldom in exactly the same place, which means a lot of messing about.
If it's also an electric one you could have the same problems with the cable.

It is an electric one.

Does anyone have any idea how much it would cost for someone to fit it?
Would I need a plumber and electrician?

you may well come up against the new regs as well on this. fitting can vary widely but you could be looking at around 50-100 i would not be suprised to see more

Get an electrician to do it. Go for an exact replacement if possible to make the job easy and cheap. If it's too old, get one of exactly the same power requirement (probably 7.5kW).

Like for like is not notifiable under Part P of the building regs. However an electrician will check out that everything else is ok on the circuit such as RCD, overcurrent protection, earthing and bonding.

Electric showers can be lethal if incorrectly fitted.
