Question for all those cat experts!

Our two indoor cats sleep anywhere they fancy. They both go through phases of sleeping in different places. They both tend to favour our beds and the sofa but I've just found the male sleeping in the wardrobe on top of my shoes.0

Cats have beds??????
Mine have places they really shouldn't be and go to sleep there.. I found one in the fridge once.. I kid you not!!! Thankfully we make loads of cuppas so she wasn't in there long but still!! Baskets of clean laundry are comfy.. but dirty will do if it must.. my bed, childrens bed, top of the radiator, tables, chairs, cushions, OH's lap.. or his laptop, top of the fridge, top of the kitchen wall units, in a cereal box, I haave had 5 sleeping on different stairs it was like a furry obstacle course!
If she slept in it before and doesn't now.. it probably looked at her funny so she took herself off in a huff.
I have 1 asleep in a piece of paper on the pouffe, 1 on a cushion on the bedroom floor, one in a pile of baby toys, 1 under the table outside in the rain, 1 in a basket of clean laundry which shall be hoofed out in a second and the other in a pile of DD1's clean clothes on the floor on the landing..
I have 1 that like the radiator bed in winter.. she starts off all rolled up like a hedgehog and ends up panting and spread all over like she is broken!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Cat beds are just a retail gimmicks, similar like cat toys

Mine love nothing more than a box, a simple cardboard box with some holes in it so they can appear and dissapear from it and scaring the hell out of one another LOL
Sleeping? Whenever they choose - in the bath, in the sink, on the kitchen worktop, on the sofa, on my bed - really whenever THEY choose to...
The only useful things that I have bought are cat litter boxes (for obvious reasons) and scratching thingy cat tree which thel love - anything else gets ignored.0 -
I'm gobsmacked she slept in HER bed for so long. Most cats will sleep in / on anything EXCEPT their beds and whatever is MOST inconvenient to you.
Out of interest, is she scratching outside it as if she's trying to cover it? Like in a litter tray? Ie, like she's trying to cover it with imaginary litter that isn't there? That's a sign she doesn't like it and sees it as poop, I'm afraid.
Don't get any hopes up that she will ever sleep anywhere you want her to. But cats love newspaper (and paper generally, especially if you want to read it), so you could always put a couple of sheets in there, see if she likes sleeping on it.
Mine also avoid blankets in the Summer, and prefer to sit on the wooden floors, or a wooden cupboard. They also avoid blankets when they have fleas (itchy) so make sure she's de-flead. (If her bedding has any TINY little blacks specks on it, that's flea poo (blood), and she'll need to be de-flead. Get proper vet stuff like Frontline or Advocat.)

KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -
My Daisy often starts off sleeping on the laziboi armchair when I go to bed then usually ends up asleep at the bottom of the bed or on top of me! Recently she's taken to sleeping on the sofa in front of the window, especially if it's sunny.0

Chuckling at this, although my boy has his comfy bed in the wardrobe, he can sometimes be found sleeping at the other end on top of the coat hangers!

He has a bed in the shower (hot water pipes run underneath it;) boy are they not stupid)
:rotfl::rotfl:My cat does this. When we moved into our new rented house she kept sleeping right outside the bathroom door. OH quickly realised it is because the hot water pipes run just outside the door so its lovely and warm for her.
OP I wouldnt worry about your cat not sleeping the bed. Mine will sleep in her bed for months at a time (also in our bedroom) then she will suddenly change where to sleep. At the minute she sleeps in a different place every night.
She loves my OH because he always leaves his dirty towel on the bathroom floor after he has a shower - makes a good bed for her, laundry basket is also a good place to sleep, the end of our bed, next to the radiator, you name it she'll try it out as a sleeping place!

My Smudge must be weird lol she has always slept in her bed at night, and during the day on my bed (Little monkey!) or on her radiator bed.. Not cute places like other cats have, in washing piles, or on top of bookshelves etc!
She is an indoor cat so we dont bother to get her de-flead, and have never seen a flea on her yet..
I think she may have fallen out with her bed for a week or so, but she is back to sleeping in it now! lolSo much for 'Money Saving'
