Hip/Ridge tiles re pointed

Hi,
Can anyone give me an idea on the cost of having hip and ridge tiles (think that's what they are called) re-pointed on a 3 bed detached house? it's for a friend who has called roofer a couple of times to come out to do a quote but he has not shown up.

There is no point (oops :)) repointing ridge and hip tiles. All that is is cosmetic. If the pointing obviously needs doing when viewed from ground level then 99% they need completely rebedding.

Kick that builder into touch then and then get some roofers round to quote. Get three then you have something to compare. Any pricing on here without the benefit of seeing it would be total guesswork.

    Cheers

Had mine replaced (semi) in April costs us £600, that included new ridge tiles, two metal things that go at the end of the tiles to stop them falling down, some Rosemary tiles replaced approx 20 this included scaffolding which only went up one side of house on a garage roof side of house

I did get the cheaper concrete slightly longer ridge tiles they say they were half the cost

Two days work with builder and labourer.

As keystone said don't get them 'buttered up', it won't last. Rebed is the answer. It's harder with the smaller rosemary type tiles and easier with the large concrete tiles. Expect between £400 and £650.

But did they match the remainder of the roof for the sake of a few quid?

    Cheers

PS Sorry to hear about your mum. Lost me own eight years ago last Jan to the same thing. Still miss her greatly and it still hurts. Bon chance.

Not sure what you mean by matching remainder. They did the whole top and two sides of ridge tiles took old clay ridge tiles off and put on concrete ones.

Thanks yes it still hurts you never realise how much they mean to you until sadly its too late, lost both parents now.

    Thanks to everyone for replies,

Just an update, got quotes, ended up with a guy who was recommended, did a fab job, re bedded the ridge tiles, put new metal thingys at the bottom to keep tiles in place and cleared all moss off the roof and cleaned gutters, had to replace about 20 broken or damaged tiles but thankfully had a pile of old ones in the garden after some Velux windows were fitted a few years ago. Took 2 men a day to do and came in at £450 which was a lot less than I thought and they have done a lovely job!!
