11 weeks . All LA's have heavy workloads at present, but 11 weeks for a new claim is beyond reasonable. Our backlog for new claims at present is about 3 weeks, but claims made in person are being done in under a week. Personally, I'd make a complaint in writing to the Head of Service and my councillor as that should get things moving.

I made my claim in person - and have taken in anything else I have been asked for in person. I suppose that my area is busier than yours.

I used to read things like this and think "how can that be?" as my LA generally processed claims and changes in 3 weeks maximum. They are currently 7 assessors down who won't be replaced due to the budget cuts but claims have increased.

They currently have a 6 week backlog with things set to get worse
