How long does dla take to make payment once award is made?

They made the decision yesterday (mrc & lrm), just wondered how long it ususally takes before payment is made. Also they are backdating it to March 18th so will I get 2 payments i.e. march 18th -April 18th payment and April 18th - May18th payment then another due around June 18th is that right?

Hi again Teabag,

This was two years ago when my hubby's first claim was approved so things may be different for you now.

They wrote to tell us the award was successful and that we were to be paid four weeks backdated payments of DLA straight away (they only owed us 4 weeks because the claim was awarded really quickly).

It was really surprising to us at the time as the payment was in the bank before the letter.

The next payment was exactly four weeks later as DLA is paid in arrears.

the payment is usually in the bank before you recieve the award notice, given that monday is a BH i will probaly be there thur/fri maybe even wednesday

they will tell you in your award notice the date the payment was for and when you will recieve the next one, i am thinking you will recieve 2 months now then in 4 weeks another as its paid 4 weekly

have you informed the TC yet? if not i would wait untill the money hits your account and then you will know that the system has definatly been up dated, that process takes about a week
