Just got some news today from my Halifax Credit Card account...where from December, every time that the Bank Of England base rate goes up, my credit card interest will go up by the same amount on my next statement.
They've basically told me that my interest rate from August to December will be 14.95% on either cash withdrawal or purchases, which in itself is not bad...but what I found shocking is that if BOE base rate goes up by 4% by let say next year which is quite possible then my card interest will have gone up by the same amount. Considering that it can only goes up for the forseable future it is not great news....
I will be curious to see if all other providers are going to operate the same practice.

So if they hadn't sent you this later and changed the way they do things ....They've basically told me that my interest rate from August to December will be 14.95% on either cash withdrawal or purchases, which in itself is not bad...but what I found shocking is that if BOE base rate goes up by 4% by let say next year which is quite possible then my card interest will have gone up by the same amount.
.... imagine BofE rates went up by 4% next year. What do you think would have happened to your credit card interest rate?
Would you really find it "shocking"?0 -

First I do not need your sarcastic comments......
Second I realise that the BOE base rate has always been linked in some way to credit card interest but never in my life my credit card interest gone up at the same time as the BOE base rate.0 -
Sarcasm? No sarcasm there.First I do not need your sarcastic comments......

It was a genuine response.
I'm struggling to see why you find it "shocking".0 -
