Just wanted to say that B&Q have red fleece blankets for £3. They're 120cmx150cm, I think.
  • Honestly, this is all new to me the whole Christmas Eve Hamper thing, but I have decided that this year it is an absolute MUST! It's such a cute idea and as we've decided to make only handmade or give small gifts, this is a pretty good solution. Particularly for our Nieces and Nephews (2, 6, 7, 10, 12) as on Christmas Day they get so spoilt they don't know who's bought them what pressie, inevitably lose something which gets thrown away with the wrapping paper and by boxing day they are back outside playing with their friends, not bothered about the hundreds of pounds worth of presents various relations have bought them!

But, in the same breath, you can't get them a voucher or something more practical because it's no fun to open. So I like the idea of this hamper idea to replace their gifts and it gives them something lovely to do on Christmas Eve, really magical :)

Will post when I decide from all the ideas what to put in each one! :)

Can anybody recommend good old fashioned engrossing Christmas dvds for a 7 & a 10yr to go in the Eve stockings?
Don't mind old or second hand as I was hoping to pick them up cheap off of Eb&y

    Thanks

    Just replying to myself!
I came across National Lampoons Christmas Vacation. Do you think a 10yr girl would like this or am I just being too nostalgic?!
I really like the thought of the children enjoying the my childhood favourites but am struggling for the 7yr old. I can't remember that far back :rotfl:
Would prefer to hear them giggling & wanting to drag the same film out year after year. Someone brought them Mickeys once upon a Christmas a few years ago but it makes the oldest one cry

I'm thinking of compiling a hamper for coming off on the CHristmas hols..usually I only have a couple of days but working in a school, I need to hibernate and recouperate!!! I usually like to be organised so that all i need to do is deliver presents when off - this means i have more time to spend with folk. However, a hamper would be like a wee treat for hubby and me. at the mo am thinking-

    - nice hot choc
    - beer / wine / schloer ( could be preggers....hopefully)
    - box of fancy choc
    - xmas DVD / s
    - bubble bath
    - skin care (? using coupons / freebies)
    - tinned fancy food e.g. salmon
    - tinned soup e.g. cullen skink
    - cash for takeaway / local hotel for meal
    - treats for the cats (cat milk / dreamies)

    Any other ideas???

    I've been Money Tipped!
snowy owl what about pjs, fleece for snuggling on couch to watch the films, popcorn for this also, new Christmassy mugs for the hot choc (could be put away and come out every year) and what about a game of some kind? U may have a console but if not you could get a DVD game something like catchphrase, mr and mrs or who wants to be a millionaire?

I may be way off the mark, but hopefully you'll find some of these suggestions helpful
