I've been going through some paperwork today and noticed on the loan application with Freedom, the boxes for PPI aren't ticked - it is all typed out by FF and then posted for signatures. Looking at hubby's credit report, it was also Freedom who did the credit check. Hubby is still convinced it was FP who he spoke to/sold him the PPI and not FF. I am wondering if it is worth responding to FP's letter stating my findings and telling them to prove otherwise or I will pass it on to FOS. If I do this should I also start a claim to the underwriter as well to be on the safe side? Is it worth a try taking this line with FP do you think?

Seems so many with Firstplus are saying exactly the same thing. It makes me wonder if they have something going here. I know that we were told that a broker sold the PPI and yet point of sale was actually Firstplus and our application also applied with NO PPI.

Do you think they are doing this to stop people from complaining somehow as the brokers are unregulated? Its so strange and I wish they would do a complete and thorough investigation into this.

You could always send the complaint into FOS (it was sold in 2004 so Firstplus were GISC members then) against Firstplus and tell FOS you know that it was them that sold the PPI BUT they will not accept responsibility. They do this all too often and it is seeming like a set up.

Something is definitely not right and I am 100% positive they are covering something up, being awkward, passing the blame on to others etc. When we spoke to FP on the phone last week about Bespoke after receiving their letter with us never having heard of them, they said it had nothing to do with Freedom and was definitely Bespoke, obviously it wasn't otherwise the credit search wouldn't come up FF and after the initial phone call and credit application to FF, it was FP who finalised the loan, confirmed monthly repayments etc. with hubby by phone. I might write back to FP and tell them we have proof on the credit report that Freedom did the credit check and there are no PPI boxes ticked on the application form so they need to prove they didn't sell us the PPI by phone and see what they say to that.

I will add Yvonne, they are getting away with this as people like yourself are just listening to them and thinking they must be going mad in not remembering but some, like yourself, have proof that no other firm was involved in the sale. I would say you are right in taking this up with FP and then if they continue to dismiss the claim take it to FOS. I am sure they "know" what is going on but just need more evidence to catch them out. (unless of course they allow this kind of thing to go on which is criminal!!).
