gas safe engineer has run off with my money!
Hi Guys,
Had a gas safe engineer perform a check on a property I am renting in order to get my gas safety certificate (CP12).
He checked the boiler said it was OK and said he'll send me a certificate. I paid his invoice and have still not received a certificate.
He blanks most of my emails and calls and keeps saying he has sent it but I never receive anything.
I've contacted gas safe who say they can't do anything unless he installed something dodgy at the house.
Anyone have any ideas how to get a refund from the engineer?
Thanks
Jason

Issue a small claim in the courts
You would have to send, by 1st class post, a letter of intent first, laying out the facts and your intention to claim & to give him time to respond or refund. Obviously keep a copy
Do NOT be tempted to send recorded delivery,as anyone intending to avoid a payment or action will not sign for it, and you will get it back unopened
1st class posting, with proof of posting [free] is legally considered to have been delivered
A Google shows http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/bargains-and-rip-offs/article.html?in_article_id=417663&in_page_id=5Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Have you checked that he is actually GSR and not just claiming to be so?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

surely the landlord should arrange and pay for this certification not you, - check the guy out on https://www.gassaferegister.co.ukI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

I think the OP means 'a property I am renting out'?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Report him to HM taxes if he is pulling a fast one who's to say he is a bonfide engineer he may be on fiddle0

Of course it could just be he has sent the certificate & it is lost in the post, what makes you think he is a liar?
As he blocks your e-mail & calls, are you coming on heavy handed, as per your header of "run off with my money" instead of polite and calm.
Could you not just ask for a duplicate?Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
If he now blocks there calls how can they ask for a duplicate thats assuming they dont have a contact addressOf course it could just be he has sent the certificate & it is lost in the post, what makes you think he is a liar?

I assumed they did have contact address as OP has an invoice, and Gas Safe has a register, and the Post Office provide a delivery system via red boxes on the pavement
Or were you just trying to pick holes?Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -

Hey, would HM Taxes pay attention to this? Is it tax related?
