Viessmann 100W Boilers - now 5 years standard guarantee?

I'm looking to get my boiler replaced and have already got 1 quote for an install of a Glowworm Flexicom 35cx w/2 year warranty.

I've decided I want something a bit better than that and have seen that the Viessmann's are recommended frequently.

I've just read a press release dated earlier this year that states that the 5 year warranty on these (previously only available if supplied/fit by a Viessmann-trained installer) is now standard on the 100W Vitodens.

Now, I read this to mean that you don't have to be Viessmann-trained to get the new warranty, is this right?

AFAIK it is on the boiler, whoever fits it as long as they are gas safe registered and comply with all manufacturers instructions and commissioning.

Thanks for the reply, the person I have in mind fits the bill as per the above (i.e. gas safe registered), but hasn't heard of these boilers!

I'd guess it's better to have someone who fits them week in week out maybe?

Good evening: see here. I think the RGI you have in mind needs to improve his/her product awareness.

Is that a diplomatic way of asking if his spurs be a jangling as he saunters down the front path?

    Thanks for the replies.

The prospect of using this RGI is - how can I say it - 'political'. He's very good with the old gear (back boiler), I guess he's maybe not kept up with the times. I am willing to have a bit of social discomfort and not go with him for the sake of spending the best part of £3000 of my money on the right boiler/installer!

Viessmann seem to tick most of the boxes for me at the moment, my only concern is that the current units haven't had a particularly long shelf life so any long-term problems won't be apparent. I guess that's why the 5-year guarantee on P+L and the 10-year guarantee against Heat Exchanger corrosion is there though.

The Alpha boiler with its current 7-year guarantee offering (with the right installer/premier pack) is turning my head as well.

And so begins my search for a good installer with a competitive quote!
