BA, AA or Virgin Economy

I'm off to San Francisco in September, and am struggling to decide who to fly with.
My choice is AA (via Chicago) or BA or Virgin (Via Heathrow)
They are currently a similar price and within an hour or so duration. Any thought who is better and why?

Sorry, I'm starting in Manchester.
So AA seem to either direct me via Chicago or a codeshare via Heathrow.0 -
If you go via CHI and aren't stopping, you'll have to allow enough time to connect, because you'll have to go through US immigration and customs and then pick your luggage up from the belt and then go to the luggage drop off point and then walk to the gate for CHI-SFO flight.
If you don't fancy this then either stop over in Chicago or go via LHR on BA or Virgin.
BTW Air France are flying the new A380 double decker air craft between Paris and SFO this summer, so if you fancy a new aircraft consider MAN-CDG-SFO on AF.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
I would go for a direct flight every time, unless you intend to break the journey at the connecting point. Saves hassle, possible extra delays and reduces the risk of losing luggage, not to mention it keeps the journey as short as is possible. It is a long flight, but I'd rather spend 12 hours in the same plane rather than two shorter legs with an extended overall time.
Hard to choose between BA and Virgin, have done both to the US and would say they are equally good. Comes down to the best price and timings of flights really.
Edit:
Sorry, didn't see you were leaving from Manchester. Sadly there is no direct flight for me, so I'm just picking the least painful place to have to change planes

I've just spoken to a colleague who likened Chicago airport to a soulless hell (well, like any airport then) but he said that there is no seatback media on the route to man-chicago, and you'd be on a domestic flight chicago to sfo and so would be more crammed in, and have to pay for any drinks or snacks on the flight.
So that's put me off AA.0 -
BTW Virgin operate a MAN-LAS Vegas service direct, not sure if you want to stop in LAS Vegas though.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Yeah the American Airlines flights from Manchester aint the best
Like Richard says the Virgin flight will take you to Vegas then a short hop with Virgin America to SFO
Im not sure where the BA flights are via?
Have you not looked to just do a domestic in the UK to London Heathrow then direct with Virgin to SFO

My preference is Virgin for transatlantic flights, but BA is also fine too. Striking aside (ahem, BA!), they also look after you if there is an unanticipated problem.

If you're a shopper then definitely stop at LHR. You'll find any time spent at Las Vegas McCarren a complete waste.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
