Paypal reversed problem - Paypal Useless

I sold an item on ebay that went for over £50. When I received the payment I sent it off on the same day. Two days later the payment was reversed.

I email paypal and they told me the reverse was done by me? I had not reversed it at all.

I emailed paypal again, and they insisted I reversed it and told me to email the buyer.

I emailed the buyer but he has not responded. This looks to be a new scam in which buyers can buy items but not pay for them. Paypal were totally useless at helping me and now I have lost out on £50! Paypal is far from safe.

  • Keep on at paypal. Are they saying you did a refund? If you did, there would be an indication of this in your paypal account, and probable some emails.

What does it say in your paypal account?

  • My paypal account says the transaction was reversed.

They are claiming I issued the buyer with a refund, I told them this was not the case and they replied with the same email saying I did the refund!

I know for a fact I did not click refund or reverse payment. I am not very happy with paypal accusing me of doing something I did not do. They are basically just trying to fob me off.

I know that this is definately from the buyers end.
  • I would pester paypal until they figure out what happened.

Try taking a screenshot of your account (which will show the reversing of the transaction) and telling them you'll email it to them to show them that it wasn't you that reversed it.

The word 'reversed' itself implies that either the buyer or paypal themselves did something. If the seller/OP had done something then the term used by paypal would be 'refunded'.

I'd phone again, I've usually had no problems with paypal but i undersatnd that some telephone operatives are better than others.
