I just had a shave......

And it wasn't with a Wilkinson Sword or a Gillette, it was with a Matrix, Tesco Matrix.
I'm not a student but I do appreciate that being a bloke (I know women have their fair share of problems
) can be a pain what with having to shave most days unless you're studying some science related subject (just kidding).
Anyhow this shaving lark can turn out expensive so I decided to try a new razor yesterday after comparing the price of Gillette replacement blades, £7.98 for 8 (nearly £1 each!!) to Tesco's own Matrix blades £4.99 for 8 (62p each). I also bought the razor at £2.99 with two blades as I don't think the razors fit any other shaver....I'll try and will post if they do.
The shave was good, not Mach 3 Turbo good but certainly Mach 3 good, no burn, no nicks but very close. I'm very impressed and know what I'll be buying in the future and looking forward to saving some money. The only gripe I have is that the blades get a little clogged but I have had this problem before and keep an old toothbrush to clean the razor when finished.
Gillette aren't necessarily the best a man can get, they are the most expensive a man can get though so we'll give them that.
Hope this helps and saves.

P.S. If you're unsure and want to try The Matrix out, the razor comes with two blades for £2.99.
P.P.S. The new Wilkinson Sword that was available as a freebie some time ago is truly dreadful but if anyone does like it, they are selling the blades and razors off at half price in Tesco at the moment.

The blades maybe 38p cheaper, but do they last as long ?
If they only last half as long, there going to work out more expensive over time.......0 -
I've tried many of the fancy new razors (at least 3 on free offers). They have all gone in the bin though, as I find I get just as good a shave (sometimes better) with gillette blue-2 disposable razors, and they are a lot cheaper.
None of the blades seem to stay as long as they used to.0 -

I will update after once the first blade has 'expired' but I see no reason why they wouldn't last as long, they are probably the same blade....surely not, to suggest such a thing. :rotfl:Consider anything only don't cry!0 -

I like the blue-2, they're cheap and give a decent close shave. They're slightly more irritating that the fancier ones, but hey we're blokes, not pansies with moisturiser

I got given the Fusion. It's a great shave, but the blades are just ridicuously priced. I can't see myself sticking with it.0

Wilkos disposable razors - 69p.
It may take longer to shave, but it's cheaper then paying £4.99.Can I afford to buy? Mortgage Affordability Calculator

I agree, I have the 'Fusion Power' and got some new blades the other day, a tenner for 4!..shocking...still though, its cool to have at moment so I'll keep it!Stuff Happens As Wave of Ambiguity Spreads:cool:0 -
This is the best shaver I've ever used! I've being using it about 3 weeks now and am still on the first blade (shaving every 2-3 days), I used to have to change my mach 3 at least once a week, sometimes twice. The shave is smooth as hell, and doesn't give me any bad rashes or cuts on my neck, I'd get rashes on quite a frequent basis with the mach 3. It also has that little trimmer on the flipside that is very handy for the sideburns or goatee (if that is your thing) though i'm always clean shaven. Yes the blades are pricey but a worthwhile investment in my opinion.Horatio wrote:I got given the Fusion. It's a great shave, but the blades are just ridicuously priced.
