Asda food - help!

Options
Hi, I was eating some dessert, which I bought from Asda, when suddenly I was chewing something hard and plasticky. And when I examined it, I saw that it was a large torn fingernail tip! YACK! I can't believe I chewed on that thing!

Where's the best place to report this to, and what's the best way to go about it?

Contact you local trading standards office. They will tell you the best way to proceed.

Obviously asda would love it if you just contacted them but when companies do things such as this - even though it was obviously not intentional - it is better that they are 'named and shamed' and TS or H&S are better placed to keep statistics so that they know if any company is being lax with their (or their suppliers) hygiene.

Was it an Asda own brand dessert or a branded dessert. This is very important.

It's their own brand called 'Chosen by you'. It's the last time I get that again. I understand that these things can happen, but I hate to think of what else could be lurking in their foods.

Bear in mind that the factory producing the food will probably produce stuff for other retailers as well - it won't be owned by Asda I wouldn't have thought.

These things do happen - even to the best retailers. Report it to trading standards as advised and let them do the required checks.

Might be worth reporting it to Asda as well - you may get some vouchers so that you can not spend them in protest ;)

I just spoke to someone at the Environmental Health and they said I can bring the item into them and they'll investigate the premises in which it was made.

They also said the other option is to bring it to asda and they'll reimburse me for it. But then the Environmental Health won't be able to do anything. So it's option one then.

Gross and disgusting, and a gentle reminder of the human element involved in processed foods! It's always best to make your own if you have the time, at least you know exactly what has gone into it :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Well I enjoy home cooking and usually alternate between doing that and buying prepared foods, or the occasional takeaway or eat out.
But having never encountered this before, I've always shrugged off the things I've heard about processed foods in the past, and hadn't thought much about the human involvement. I will now though!
