been made redundant ... but my jobs still there

Will be redundant in June ... but have just found out that my job is still there .... what they have done is put my job and another persons job together. Is that allowed ... HELP

    Merging jobs is allowed so your job will no longer exist.

    Now should you be made redundant is a different issue.

    that will depend on how you were consulted and selected.


    More details needed on the jobs that have merged and how you were selected.

    Not entirely sure of what you're saying, but I suspect the answer is Yes....

    I'm not an expert, but my understanding is;

    If you're saying that two of you are currently doing the same job but there is only enough work for one person, then they can make
    one of the people redundant, even though the same job is still required. But thgey would have to have objective criteria to justify which of the two they are going to make redundant.

    Similarly if there are currently two people doing different jobs, and they decide instead to create a single new role which covers the tasks of both existing jobs, then the two existing jobs are effectively redundant. However in these circumstances I'd expect the employer to at least consider each of the two for the new role, and again have objective criteria to determine who gets made redundant.

    Posts are made redundant, not work. If the headcount - the number of people employed - is reduced, then positions are redundant.
