...............a Pet Cemetery??
Options

My son's rabbit died last week

.....................and he desperately wants to bury her in a pet cemetery. I've tried numerous searches on the internet but they seem to have ceased and gone over to cremation. The nearest one I've found so far is in Hook which is MILES away from us in Southampton!! :-/
Does anyone know of any at all??
Cheers for any help

it's got nothing on the link elsie, I think it's an annoying search within a search site
savvy - isn't there something in the New Forest, I know there is the "Woodland Burial" site which is officially for human remains but they may also do pets in certain parts
other than that think Wareham or Salisbury but again they aren't the closest
(can you not just bury it in the garden and plant a tree or something? at least it's close to home)0 -
could you try your local vets to see if they have any information about this?
many condolances**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -
Thanks elsie..........I didn't even know that search site existed!
Woby Tide that's a good idea about the New Forest, I'll check that out, I tried the one at Salisbury but they only cremate there. The prob with our garden is that we don't really own the house and may one day have to move so would be good to have one palce where all the pets can finally rest up!However the way things are going it may be the only option!!
Chalky_Bertie - tried that but they only deal with a crematorium miles and miles away!
Cheers Sheel......................it's the first pet death I've had to deal with, didn't realise it was so difficult!! ::)Honorary Northern Bird bestowed by AnselmI'm a Board Guide and volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly on Special Occasions, Green/Ethical, Motoring/Overseas/UK Travel & Flood boards, it's not part of my role to deal with reportable posts. Sorry to hear about the lickle bunny
this might not be what you are wanting - but if there are no cemetries near you, my friend had her cat cremated and she now has the ashes in a vase on the window sill.
I thought this was a lovely idea - but then I know nothing about how children would react to this kind of idea.....but then they can always be 'near' their pet, even if you move away. Unfortunately we buried our pets in the garden and it was some what of a wrench when we moved0 -
they do woodland burials here
http://www.earthworks-trust.com/index.html
not sure if they do animals though - worth asking.
it's in East Meon in Hampshire so may be a little far from you. It's a nice place though, worth a visit anyway!

Had the same difficulties a few years back.
Both my German Sheperds buried there, sorry, getting the tears in my eyes filling up, now,
They're in Aspley Guise, close Mi junction 13.

Hiya savvy ,
very sad to hear about your loss,
we had a cat die about 2 years ago and we had the same problem as you are having now and the children wanted us to have her buried, we relented and went through with this but i must say it cost a fortune. not that i'm saying you can put a price on a treasured pet but it did put a considerable strain on our financies at the time.
unfortunatley bugsy my little boys rabbit died earlier this year and we thought we would have the same problem but after a chat we came up with the solution of having him cremated and was given the option of either the ashes or a beautiful framed card with his picture and his details, prices for this were from £30 pound
there is a pet cemetary in Rawtenstall, Rossendale that offers all of these services which i'm sure ur vet can arrange if you dont find anything nearer.
Good luck.Nobody can make you feel inferior, without your permission

Your vet should have details. We've had our dogs and rabbits cremated and ashes are in a wooden casket with their names on and sitting quite happily
in our son's wardrobe. They sat on the window sill in the conservatory for six months
. But they were dearly loved members of our family
