Bathroom Extractor Fan

Hi All,

I'm looking for some advice regarding Bathroom Extractor Fans. We have a family bathroom which is 3m by 3m and when showering we get a lot of steam build up. We keep the window open but still it doesn't really help.

We are looking to purchase a powerful bathroom extractor fan - wondering if anyone has made any purchases and if they would recommend any?

Thanks,
Simmms

I haven't used them for bathroom fans but on my latest project I've bought all my ventilation supplies from http://www.fantronix.com

I'm glad someone asked this as I'd be interested in any answers you get. My bathroom has a similar problem. Living in the dead flat fenlands and opening the west facing window when showering doesn't help with the steam and/or bathroom odours as it simply blows them into the rest of ground floor. It also does nothing for my hypothermia levels!

Is it possible to get a wall or window mounted powerful extractor that is operated by a pull cord rather than those intensely irritating brats that run for twenty minutes every time you turn on the light or it senses movement?

No problem can withstand the assault of sustained thought.
Only after the last tree has been cut down. Only after the last fish has been caught. Only after the last river has been poisoned. Only then will you realize that money cannot be eaten.

The problem with axial fans is they're only good for very short pipe runs or where you can vent directly outside (eg through a window). Centrifugal fans are the way to go if you need serious air moving (or if you need a long pipe run) as they can develop a lot more pressure.

Since changing our bathroom fan to a centrifugal fan there has been a massive improvement. The problem we had was our bathroom has no windows so a good extractor fan is essential.

You can always get a fan with humidistat control if you dont want to pull a cord or have it automatically when you turn on the light. That way it runs until you reach the desired humidity.
