I am having a new concrete garage put up next week and would like to ask if anyone would like to give me some tips and hints of what I should look out for when they put it up and after..
Things like what should I be aware of...make sure they do.../not do..etc..
What I should do after its put up... paint the floor?? do a fillet round the bottom??/
all help welcomed...

Get some stable matting for the floor if your not going to paint it.
Even if you only get a bit to go round in front of the workbench.
It's rubber so it's easy to hose / sweep, easy on your feet when standing working and if you drop something it less likely to break...
Warmer under your back when working on the car...

excuse my ignorance, but is it a sectional concrete garage where you don't have to dig a foundation?
the reason I ask is that i'm about to buy a house which has a drain in the way of any footings but it already has a concrete base.
How much and where did you buy yours from?Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
If you can get water out there it's useful to have a small wash basin to get the thick of the muck off after fixing the car or gardening.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

It's well worth painting the floor - I did mine a few years back, my only regret was that I didn't do it sooner ! Yes, you do need to make sure the concrete has cured properly, this can take several weeks depending on the conditions. Take some time to prepare the floor beforehand - make sure there's no muck, especially oil, on it, and use a hoover to get rid of all traces of dust.
There are about 68,000 different sorts of garage floor paint available, some of which will end up costing you close on £68,000 ! I used Wickes own-brand standard red paint, it worked well enough for me and was not too expensive. "Other brands are available" :-)
I found the big advantages of having painted the floor were less dust - handy if you're doing touch-up work on the car, painting wooden furniture, that sort of thing. And when you do get the inevitable drips of petrol, oil, etc., from cars and lawnmowers, it's easy to wipe up, rather than soaking into the concrete floor.0 -
anybody else have any more tips for my concrete garage/?0
