Hi all,

Just wanted some help in regards to tracker devices that I can get fitted into my car.

My car insurance is coming to an end very soon - 21st June. And I have started looking at various quotes, but I thought about getting a tracking device fitted. However, I wanted to know:

1) where can I get the tracking device fitted?
2) Which one is cost effective, i.e. one that willa ctually reduce the cost of an insurance premium; AND
3) generally speaking, is a tracker device worth getting?

Thank you all for advance. I hope someone can help me dearly.

Jahad

To be honest, it depends how much discount your insurer offers, or insists if compulsary as a condition of insurance.

    www.tracker.co.uk is a good start

    1. any alarm fitting service company will fit them and stamp the cert for you.
1.you may think cheaper the better but actually your better off with a decent mid entry level one.
    3. insurance wise yes they can reduce premiums, in the event of a theft theres a higher chance of having it found and can detur thefts.

bear in mind there usually a subscription to the tracking service also.

a tracker may get you a discount but most claims are for accident damage rather than theft so the discount may not be that much.

Tracking subs can be stupidly expensive...

so it all depends on what you drive...whether it's worth it or not...

In my experience most insurers don't give any discount for having a tracker, it's just that certain vehicles aren't covered if you don't have one. These are typically vehicles that are stolen a lot, e.g. Subaru Imprezas.

I had one on my old Scooby and come renewal time, for insurers that required a tracker I just added the cost of a years subscription to their premium when comparing rates. If the car gets stolen I don't want it back anyway.

Trackers can be great, but I've had customers who have had their cars stolen, ragged and then recovered. They didn't want the car back as sometimes no matter what work the Insurer does on the car it's never the same. Without the tracker their car would probably not have been rec
