I feel slightly ripped off by Vistaprint

Options
Hi,

I today ordered some (250) business cards online at Vistaprint.

I filled in a blank business card and when I was ok with the layout ect, I proceeded to the online basket.

The price for 250 cards was 12.73

However, on the way to the basket, various chargeable options come up, all of which I declined, including a free trial website which becomes chargeable after the trial period if not cancelled.

Although I left the tick box blank, it sneakily appeared in my final checkout. I actually went back 2 pages to check and the check box was blank so shouldn't have appeared in the basket.

Anyway, I cancelled this additional 'order' at the final checkout, but had I not spotted it, I could well have subscribed inadvertantly to a website I didn't want.

So I finally filled in the rest of the details and found that they had then added tax? of 3.92 and shipping and PROCESSING?? of 6.88! so my 12.73 cards are costing 23.53!

What's processing? Surely any processing should be in the original cost of the cards!

Another example of a low lead price inflated by dubious add ons.

They are almost as bad as RyanAir for adding extra fees and ripping people off.

RyanAir is a good analogy. You can get some total bargains but you need your wits about you every step of the way. Luckily as I'm VAT registered, and they're offshore, I never even see the VAT, but I can see why it might be a surprise if you weren't expecting it.

Lol if you signup to their emails you'll be offered free business cards almost every day and they would've cost you £3 or £4 for 250 including vat and delivery.

Never had any problems with vistaprint taken up some of their free offers (you have to pay postage) and a few occasions. As long as you check what your doing they're fine. The quality is good.

I had one order that didn't turn up and they refunded immediately and sent out a replacement order free. So i would recommend them for their cheap offers just make sure what's ticked before you go out of the checkout.

I wouldn't touch vistaprint with a bargepole. I'd much rather know up front how much I was paying for something, and what mailing lists I might be committing myself to. All those cheap little tricks just serve to annoy customers in the long-term. They seem to come up time and again on forums such as these.

No problems at all with Vistaprint, 500 cards for £3.50 or so delivered within 5 days, email from them twice a week but very easy to delete.
