CURRYS & PC WORLD Take order & money but no goods

Cutting short a long story, we went into Currys store and asked to price match Argos for underwater cameras, was told NO. Went into PC WORLD asked again, again told NO. Came home went online at Currys, they were willing to price match and give 10% of the difference, as long as Argos had the item in stock. We gave the advisor Argos reference number, he checked and accepted order and took ALL of my details for purchase - through debit card. Total amount £380.97. Payment instantly deducted from bank account. THEN I get an email from Currys saying that "Product label not found" above this was the item number and item name! THEY have cancelled the order. No refund from Currys at all. No other explanation. Argos are still doing the camera at a good price, but we can`t fetch them until Currys refund the cash. Has anyone had similar experiences with Currys? How long does it take to get the money back into your bank account? Please help, can`t afford to lose this much money. Also, the advisor had the cheek to open a Currys online account with my details - I was never asked if this was OK, he just took it on himself to do this, I don`t want an account with Currys, will never use them online again!

have you actually phoned them and asked for your refund?0

Your not going to "loose" your money. They are just taking longer than you expected to refund it.
When was it cancelled. Currys terms say they refund within 3-5 days, although i'm sure the laws allows upto 30 days.0 -
Thanks for your replies. #2 Why would I have to phone to ask for refund, when they shouldn`t have taken money. I am of the persuasion that even online companies check authorisation for payment, but don`t ACTUALLY take payment until the order is confirmed/goods sent. #3. Currys terms say a refund in 3-5 days if I decide to cancel - which I haven`t. THEY have refused to sell the goods, although THEY have debited my bank account for the money.
Which apparently means, I can go set up an online shop, offer to beat any other shops prices, take everyones orders, hold ££££££s in my bank account - GAINING INTEREST ON THEIR MONEY - then refund at 28 days and start all over again with other unwary shoppers cash. I never have to hold goods - because I don`t actually sell any - I just have to refund within the allotted time and sit pretty while their money is in my bank - lovely. A very underhanded and deceitful way to run a business - no wonder UK is in such a mess financially!0 -
A wee bitty OTT, something/someone had cocked up. Why didn't you buy in Argos in the first place if they were cheapest, instead of wasting time, effort and now money chasing other retailers?0

Just out of curiosity, what was the price difference between Argos and Currys?0
-
Currys price £159.99 Argos price £129.99. Reason for going to Currys, we live in the next street, Argos almost 7 miles away. Not really over the top at all, just stating facts. This is supposed to warn others to not get caught, pre-warned.0

Currys price after 10% deduction £126.99. Kids all want underwater camera as they`re going to swim in a reef for their holidays, can`t buy 1 without the other, so we wanted 3 = 3x£126.99 - £380.97 total amount Currys have withdrawn. Now we will miss the offer at Argos because the money isn`t in the bank to pay for them. BIG mistake entrusting a large company - won`t do it again.0

We will then give you a full refund for the cost of the product plus the delivery charge paid. However we do have the right to retain any charge paid for services which have already begun or been completed. Refunds take 3-5 working days to be credited to your payment card.
Does state quite clearly how long it will take, regardless of if you canceled it or they canceled it.0 -
It also says they authorise payment, but not actually take it. All other online shops I`ve dealt with ONLY take payment when the goods are actually sent. Currys took payment immediately. Like I say, lesson learned, but for anyone else who intends buying electricals online, BUYER BEWARE, Currys will take your money then leave your bank balance short without a care - even when they don`t have goods to sell.0

Sorry but what? Every shop I have used take payment immediately.0
