Card details stolen

Just wanted to let people know that today I had my card stopped. On ringing the bank I was immediatly passed to the fraud department and asked if I had tried to make a transaction yesterday which I had not. They have informed me that as I had made an online payment to Very catalogue two days before it looks like someone has taken my card details and tried to make a small test transaction. Luckily they didnt succeed.
I will no longer be making direct card payments to Very me thinks.

Id be looking at how they got your card details0

Doesn't have to have been Very, could have been anywhere you've ever used your card. Bit naughty of your bank to say that really.0

Well, they had to say where the card had been used so that OP could tell them if it was legit or not.
However, OP, it's not necessary to avoid Very (whoever they may be). They were just some random site the scumbags happened to pick for a test. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

The bank are investigating, I asked if I had to do anything and they said no they had opened a case. Would the bank have said it was anything to do with Very unless they knew something?! I am just grateful the bank stopped the payment and questioned it.0

The bank told you that the suspect transaction was at Very because they needed you to tell them whether or not you had made the pruchase yourself.
When I used a card to buy some computer gear for the first time (on that particular card), the bank phoned me up and asked if I had spent some money at XXX. That wasn't because they thought that XXX were suspect, it was because they thought that someone else might have go my card details and tried to but something there.
XXX were completely innocent and I'm pretty sure 'Very' are as well.
I think it extremely unlikely that the bank would tell you who they though had leaked your information as that could be libellous. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -
I interpreted the OP's post slightly differently. I thought he had himself made a transaction with Very two days ago, and that today someone had made a suspicious transaction, so he assumes Very leaked his credit card details, hence he will 'no longer' use them?0

I agree Pendulum, the OP did confirm they'd made a transaction to Very a couple of days before and is now assuming that their card details were compromised there. Don't think Very would be where their card details were "leaked" do you ? More likely to be a dodgy petrol station ! The bank won't know where it happened anyway.0 -
Yes to clarify the bank went through my transactions and the bank did say that it looks like the card details have been taken from Very as that was the last transaction I had made. I work in IT and am well aware of the security issues and also know that the banks are able to track details via IP addresses and service providers. The bank seemed certain they knew where the details had been taken from.
I only posted it to warn people and can only go by what I was told by the bank.0
