Hi Guys,
My Dell PC has worked fine for years, but on Monday I swapped my Virgin Cable Broadband router/modem over to the new version they sent me, it all went smoothly and my PC was fine.
I turned it off that evening, and the next morning all I got was a black screen with NTLDR is Missing, press any key to re-start, which I did and still nothing.
I have checked every disc drive, USB port etc and have nothing in there. I have also read on other peoples posts that they used the XP CD to resolve this. My PC did not come with a CD, just a piece of card that says the following:
"Your new computer does not require an opertaing system CD or drivers CDs. Instead if you ever need to reinstall your software, use one of the following methods"
"Microsoft windows system restore or Dell PC restore" - Problem is both of these are located on the desktop, which I cannot get to???
Does anyone know of how I can fix this without a CD or without losing any of my data?
Any help would be really apperciated.

put the hard disk in another machine, or a usb hard disk caddy to get the data.
thn hold down ALT F10 at boot, if that doesn't work, read the manual on how to do the factory restore (it's sometimes F8)- this will obviously wipe your data.
buy and use a usb hard disk as backup device and/or tub of dvd's as this can happen at any time. Creating a disk image with macrium reflect free or maxblast and a boot cd will enable you to recover from this scenario with everything intact in future!!
