Hi all, after a little advice.
The coach company I work for as a mechanic has lost a school contract which is worth 9 vehicles. Obviously, 9 less vehicles means less mechanical work, which means they are letting me go at the end of july.
I have worked there for only 7 months, what are my rights, if I have any, Bearing in mind I have not been given a contract.
Many thanks in advance
Mark

Unless they have chosen you due to discriminatory reasons such as sex, race, gender etc then as above, very little because you have not worked there 12 months. The Googlewhacker referance is to Dave Gorman and not to my opinion of the search engine!
If I give you advice it is only a view and always always take professional advice before acting!!!
4 people on the ignore list....Bliss!0 -
Consider yourself lucky if you get 1 months pay in lieu of notice.
I was told I had been made redundant after I had come back from annual leave. It was a little less than a year after I started and I was told to leave that day.
My employer had managed to lose its own landlord's contract AND we shared a building with them AND it wasn't even my section that was blamed for the loss!
It's unfair, but you have to suck it up and start looking for work as soon as you've finished dodging the door slamming shut behind you. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Thats exactly what I thought, First time being redundant. I'm lucky to be fairly sought after tbh, got a few job offers, and I was looking before I left as I predicted that it was likely.
Thanks all0 -
Good luck marksandsparx, hope it goes well for you. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0
